SCHEDULE YOUR FREE CONSULTATIONThroughout history, midwives have cared for expectant women. The term "midwife" actually means "with woman." The concept behind midwifery is that pregnancy and childbirth are normal life experiences and that women should be supported at this stage of their lives. Midwifery care is the care provided to women before, during, and after childbirth and delivery.
Midwives are trained women’s health professionals, especially certified nurse midwives or CNMs, who collaborate with anesthesiologists and OB/GYNs to provide the best care possible. Families choose midwifery care in Dallas, TX, when they prefer more involved, informative, and family-centered care. Midwives offer women the chance to decide their own non-medicated birthing plan where they feel safe, supported, and empowered.

A birth center dallas tx can help and support you in more ways than just assisting you through delivery and childbirth. They offer comprehensive care, starting from the prenatal stage to the postpartum. Here’s what midwifery care can help you with.
One of the crucial ways they support your pregnancy journey is by providing prenatal care. Midwives provide prenatal examinations at home to monitor both your health and the growth of your baby. This includes routine pregnancy monitoring, ultrasounds, and blood testing. This is an important service provided by them, as it helps resolve or detect any issues/complications that may come up later during the pregnancy or delivery.
Midwives also offer nutritional counseling to ensure you and your baby stay healthy during and after the delivery. They provide diet and exercise regimens to prepare you for labor. After you give birth, their focus is to ensure you and your baby stay healthy.
The most well-known fact about midwives is that they’re experts at assisting with natural births. Most expectant mothers seeking a natural, non-medicated birthing experience prefer working with midwives. Your midwife will get to know you, understand your wishes for your birthing plan, and advise you on the best course of action.
There’s a common misconception that pregnant women who have previously given birth via C-section cannot have a vaginal delivery the second time around. This is false. Your midwife can examine you and determine if it’s safer and the right option for you and assist you with it, even if you’ve given birth via C-section before.
Midwife care doesn’t stop once you have given birth. One of the reasons families choose midwives is that they provide continuity of care. After you give birth, midwives help you navigate newborn care while taking care of yourself. They support your healthy recovery and your baby's health during the postpartum phase.
Your midwife will educate and inform you on the healthy ways to start and maintain breastfeeding. An experienced midwife can help facilitate skin-to-skin contact with your child, teach you proper positions, and solve common breastfeeding challenges, such as sore nipples, latching issues, or insufficient milk production.
Not just physical, new mothers need emotional and mental support during their pregnancies and postpartum periods. Midwives are dedicated to providing tailored care to each patient, and they do this by forming relationships that provide emotional and social support. They ensure you’re involved in every decision-making process and are there to help clear any of your queries to help you remain stress-free as you prepare for your journey into motherhood.

Olivia and her entire tea with Sweet Pea Midwifery were amazing! Olivia was so patient. I’m a little crunchy and was soo grateful she asked what my desire was regarding the post birth jabs 💉, vitamin k, the other tests they have to poke your baby for, the gunk they put in baby’s eyes right after delivery, etc. She was so caring to advise me what the pros and cons were for every one of them and was happy to support me either way.

I have honestly been putting off writing a review because there simply are not enough of the right words for Olivia and her team. Amazing, fantastic, exceptional just do not do her justice. We chose a home birth for our first child and while most of our family and friends were supportive we did get some push back and as anyone who’s done this before can attest
