Financial Answers & Financing Options

I believe that money should never be the main consideration for who you choose as your care provider or where you choose to birth. This is why I have made it a priority to price my services affordably.

Investing In Your Birth

My clients pay for their care in payment across the course of their pregnancy (before the birth). Generally, it will cost the same to pay cash at my rate as it would to use your insurance in the hospital. That’s because the “patient portion” required by your insurance company is a percentage of the hospital fee which is 3x greater than my cost.

Although Sweet Pea Midwifery is not "in network" with any particular insurance carrier I do work closely with an insurance biller who would be happy to verify you insurance benefits and then file your insurance claim after the birth on your behalf. Depending on your insurance company, you may be able to get reimbursed for a portion of your fees.

The sharing plans I have experienced to cover midwifery care: Liberty, CH-Ministries, Medi-Share and Samaritan.

Health Sharing

I have worked with health sharing programs.  I am more than willing to provide you with the documentation to submit before the birth and/or after depending on your particular program’s structure. Most programs pay after the birth, so you will pay the package price by 34-weeks, and then I will provide you with a super bill to submit after the 6 week postpartum visit. I ask that you contact your program to gather the information they need from me and provide me with the documentation that they request.

Insurance Billing

If you would like my insurance expert, Quilted Health Billing, to work with you and your insurance company, she can:

  • Verify your benefits
  • Tell you your estimated out of pocket expenses and
  • Negotiate with your insurance company to get Sweet Pea Midwifery covered as “in network” on a case by case.

She has forms on her website to enter your information, send her your insurance card and ID, and she will verify your benefits.

Click below to submit your insurance information so that she can get started negotiating with your insurance company to get your birth covered.

The insurance companies that I have experienced to reimburse portions of midwifery care: United Healthcare, Cigna and Aetna.
