Follow-up 28 Weeks

Welcome to the third trimester! You are in the home stretch!!!

Child Birth Education

Everyone should take birth classes.

I require you to take a class if:

This is your first natural birth or the first time you are birthing in a community setting (out of hospital)

Please click below and browse some of the childbirth educators that I love, right away.

Ideally you should finish your classes by your 36th week in pregnancy. Now that you are in the 3rd trimester, you really should enroll now to secure a spot.

Kick Counts

Let’s Count Those Kicks! I have a new homework assignment for you . . . and I’d love for you to do it daily until you have your baby in your arms. As you round the corner in to the 3rd trimester, you will notice that you are even more aware of your baby.

Every day when your baby is most active, please lay down, and see how many minutes it takes baby to move 10 times. You will quickly see that on a full stomach, with lots of good nutrition, your baby will always move 10 times in roughly the same amount of time.

Most babies will “kick it out” in 10-20 minutes.

The reason it matters: Sometimes near the end of pregnancy, especially if you go past your due date by a week or more, you will notice that the baby may not be moving as much. This can be due to the fact that baby is simply running out of room or that the placenta isn’t effectively nourishing your baby the way it should. The only way we know how the baby is doing is by having really good, standardized information. You are the best person to gather that information.

Doula

Doulas are probably the best investment you can make to help you have a satisfying, safe, comfortable birth.

A doula can help you avoid a hospital transfer for pain, exhaustion, malpositioning, stress and more.

I truly believe every laboring family should have a doula.

I require that you have a doula if you fall into one of these 3 categories:

  • you are birthing for the first time
  • this is your first time to birth out of the hospital
  • you have a history of cesarean

I have relationships with independent doulas!

I have compiled a list of great doulas, click below to see their contact info.
