Getting off to a great start
Prenatal Vitamin Unless you consistently, religiously eat a "Real Food" diet, that includes the “whole rainbow of colors”, good fats and whole grains every day, you need a quality prenatal vitamin. I love Garden of Life prenatal supplements. I highly suggest reading Real Food for Pregnancy- I have a copy in the client library if your would like to check it out!
NORA Tea (Nettles, Oatstraw, Red Raspberry & Alfalfa) every day beginning at 24 weeks. Research and experience show us that the nutrients in this tea help prevent bleeding after birth.
PROBIOTICS: Research is clear that women who take probiotics with 2 particular strains of bacteria:
rhamonosus and retueri. are much less likely to have Group B Strep colonization when tested at 36-weeks.

Here are the nutrients and their target amounts you should be getting every day.
- Methylfolate - 400-800 mcg daily if it’s not in your prenatal - Folate is a B vitamin that helps you make enough healthy blood cells and convert food into energy. It supports healthy growth of your baby’s brain systems.
- Magnesium - 600 mg daily : Magnesium helps your muscles coordinate movement, keeps your digestion regular, and helps you sleep well. I recommend Natural Calm.
- Vitamin D3 5,000 IU daily: D3 boosts your immunity and is protective against viruses. It also supports your mood and may help prevent postpartum depression.
- Vitamin B12 (if vegan) 2.4 mcgs:
- Omegas (Fish/DHA) 1-2 capsules daily: Omega 3 helps your circulation, and supports your baby’s neurological growth.
During pregnancy most women become somewhat anemic, to assist is boosting your iron levels I suggest the following supplements:
- Iron (if needed): As you make more “liquid” portion of your blood, the “red blood cells” will get diluted. Beef Liver Capsules are my go to iron supplement. Ancestral Supplements has a great capsule and Perfect Desiccated beef liver capsules on Amazon.
- Other anemia supplement options: Chlorophyll, Hello Vitality, Floradix (Amazon).
- Ningxia Red (Young Living): This liquid vitamin has antioxidants that will support your immunity. It also has red berries to support iron.
