Getting off on the right foot!

Getting off on the right foot!

I am so honored to join you on this exciting journey! I believe that birth should be more than just safe! It should be safe, sentimental, sacred, satisfying and healing. This can be achieved through prevention and preparation to support your health holistically - Body, Mind & Soul.

Action items from todays appointment

Eat well

Good nutrition boosts your immune system, helps your body nourish your baby, and helps you feel good and stay healthy. It may even help you have a shorter labor and will also help you recover quicker after the birth.

  • Eat a serving of protein at every meal. In the first trimester, aim for 60 g of protein daily. By the 2nd trimester aim for 80 g of protein. And, by the 3rd trimester make sure to get more than 80 g of protein.
  • Eat “all the colors of the rainbow” in vegetables (and a few fruits) every day.
  • Limit the amount of carbohydrates, grains, breads, sugars and processed foods.
  • Add healthy fats to your diet. I suggest avocado, seeds, and healthy oils.

Hydrate

Your blood volume is expanding by about 50%. You also are creating amniotic fluid and your body is constantly working to grow a human. All of that takes water! Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces every day. If you weigh 180 lbs, you need to drink 90 ounces of water each day. If you have difficulty getting that much water in each day, you can consider infusing it with a hint of fruit juice or hydration multipliers.

Move

Your body and your baby are working together to position the baby and prepare for birth. Exercising in pregnancy can help you have an easier, less painful, safer birth. You can continue doing exercise you were doing before you got pregnant. Walk vigorously every day for at least 30 minutes.

Quality Chiropractic care

As your baby grows and your body produces more relaxin hormone your joints, bones, and ligaments all adapt to the strain that pregnancy puts on your body. Chiropractors are highly skilled care providers who specialize in the art and science of promoting health through adjusting joints and balancing ligaments to help increase flexibility and reduce pain.
