SCHEDULE YOUR FREE CONSULTATIONLong before the development of the pharmaceutical industry, midwives and other healers turned to plants to support health and offer remedies and options for people with various health concerns.
Modern medicine has had a huge influence on how the typical American responds to common challenges. To some degree, we’ve lost the deep appreciation of the use of plants.
Sweet Pea Midwifery carries prescription medications for emergencies in labor and birth. But, for the vast majority of pregnancy-related symptoms my healthy moms (and healthy babies) , I prefer to use plant-based remedies in the form of Essential Oils because the side-effects of most medications can be problematic. 2
I encourage you to purchase some essential oils for use during your labor and at your birth.
There are plenty of essential oil companies. But, I am depending on the oils to do more than just smell good. I use them in truly therapeutic ways. If I need a remedy, I want to know it’s going to work, and work well. Every oil is not made the same however there are a few companies that produce high quality oils. One of my favorites is Young Living Essential Oils and I actually have a distribution account with them so you can order them direct through me. The link to purchase them is

Doterra is also a great brand. Many of the blended oils can be found in both brands.

Heartburn, Nausea, Constipation

Peppermint: This strong oil helps support digestion and is one of the best ways to combat many of the pregnancy challenges of the first trimester.
Sleep
Getting a better night’s sleep is the top priority of most women in pregnancy and in the first months after birth. There are many oils that can help you unwind, release stress, and relax better so you can get a full night’s sleep.
Here are 3 of my favorites. Peace & Calming / Stress Away / Lavender
Energy and Focus
Valor: This blend of oils is great for supporting your energy, keeping you focused. I love using it when labor gets really intense and you need a boost to your energy, resolve, focus and stamina. It’s one of my very top favorite oils.
Skin Irritation and Round Ligament Support
LavaDerm: This skin-loving spray helps your body heal well after birth. It also keeps your skin from getting irritated from using pads for 4+ weeks after birth.
Valor: This is the best remedy we have found for supporting your ligaments on your belly and back. It’s no secret that the growing belly can cause round ligament pain and low back pain. This oil is our go-to when people call with common complaints. 6

Our natural varicose vein treatment ingredients include Horse-Chestnut, Milk Thistle, and Witch-Hazel have been generously blended in this formula along with soothing essential oils.
Increase Iron
MultiGreens Capsules: This supplement (capsule) has a bunch of stuff to support your blood iron - chlorophyll, alfalfa, bee pollen and kelp and more. Important for both pregnancy and postpartum.
Ninxia Red: This liquid supplement is packed with anti-oxidants and is great for supporting your immune system and boosting your iron. I also feel like it helps me have more energy - which can be really important for people in pregnancy. We’ve seen some of the healthiest placentas from women who take this great liquid supplement. It supports energy, normal cellular function, and normal eye health. If you notice your eye function changing in pregnancy, this would be my first go-to suggestion.
Swelling
Help your body release extra fluids. Mix a blend of 2 drops Grapefruit, Cypress, and Lemongrass added to 1 tablespoon of oil, massage on swollen legs/ Make a blend of 10 drops of Geranium in 2 tablespoons of oil to massage on hands.
Immune Support
Thieves Blend: This famous blend is a powerhouse for supporting health. It adds a nice clove & cinnamon flavor to hot tea to soothe cold and allergy symptoms. It supports your immune system to help you sty healthy throughout pregnancy.
Thieves Foaming Hand Soap: Plant based sanitizers have an advantage over the static/stable synthetic sanitizers when it comes to out-foxing the mutations of common bacteria and viruses. This yummy smelling hand soap is an essential part of staying healthy - for your whole family.
Improving Labor Contractions
Clary Sage: This is the oil we probably use the most in labor to support the regular advancement of labor. Don’t use this until 38-weeks.
Stress Away: Help support your ability to relax in labor - which improves the effectiveness of contractions.
Frankincense: When women can stay in a primal part of their brain - the place we touch in the most sacred moments - birth hormones function at peak. We love this oil to help in labor, and also postpartum.
